Insurance is totally fine with using !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in place of the backordered factory unit, b ut the shop that it’s in isn’t. The shop says that it’ll cause issues and possibly throw a CEL (which is some fucking bullshit), and therefore won’t do it. Insurance says that I could get the car and do it myself and they would pay for it. I might call some other muffler shops around here to see if they would do it. Or I could take a few days off work and do it in my driveway with jack stands, cases of beer and worsen my preexisting claustrophobia . Why me?

If it’s a full aftermarket system with v band clamps and no fab work required it should be pretty easy to do in the driveway. I've done three full systems like that and you may have to massage the hangers to get things straight,but it's never been too tough.
